Gojal: Locals demand thorough assessment of glaciers for identifying GLOF threats

The residents of Gulmit village of Gojal Valley, Hunza, have urged the government and other relevant organizations to study the risks of GLOFs in the area to help them stay prepared in case of any eventuality. According to some locals, seepages from a glacier have been observed in a pasture area, which has caused the fresh concerns. The chances of more avalanches in the near future in Žrav and Ẓ̌ʉyhel areas located above the Gulmit village have also increases, said local sources.
