Machine Readable Passports office inaugrated in Gilgit

Gilgit, December 2: Machine Readable Passports will now be available in Gilgit – city facilitating students, professionals and tourists in pursuit of the vital travel document. Chief Executive NALA Ghazanfar Ali Khan inaugurated the office. According to information gathered ordinarily passports will be available at a cost of Rs 2, 100 while on urgent basis passports can be made for Rs 4, 000.
This is a positive step towards improvement of travel facilitation in the region. However, in the absence of Visa sections of various countries in the entire region, tourists face a lot of difficulties. Public circles have hoped that embassies will also open visa issuing offices in the region to further help expansion of tourism, backbone of the region’s economy.
