Around 4,000 candidates to compete for 340 positions of AKESP teachers

PT Report

Gilgit, January 6: The Aga Khan Education Service Pakistan (AKES,P) is conducting an employment test to fill positions of teachers that fell vacant recently after hundreds of senior teachers left their jobs in return for a magnanimous package. The teachers had been protesting for years to get pay raise. Around 70 Crore rupees (70 million), it is believed, were spent by AKES to reward the teachers.

According to sources, around four thousand candidates have submitted their applications for 340 positions, 300 in GB and 40 in Chitral. The tests will be conducted at ten (10) centres established across the GBC region and Karacih.

AKESP officials have said that the test papers have been prepared by Aga Khan University Examination Board and the candidates will be selected based on test performance and experience, on lucrative salary packages.

GB is currently going through a huge crisis due to unemployment and thousands of young people, mostly graduates of Karakuram International University, are looking for opportunities, as reflected in the number of applications received by AKES,P.
