Lakhsh “A” wins Gulmit Premier League Azadi Cup Tournament

Gulmit, August 14: Lakhsh “A” defeated Noyoft Ondra, 6-5, in Azadi Cup Soccer Tournament organized as part of 2012 Gulmit Premier League.

Both teams were equal after playing for 60 minutes. They were given extra time but the match remained indecisive. Later, the match was decided on the basis penalty kicks.  12 teams competed in the tournament, including two teams consisting of laborers belonging to Ishkoman Valley. Captain of the Lakhsh “A”, Azhar, received the trophy on behalf of his team while the runner up trophy was lifted by Akram Shah, Captain of Noyoft Ondra.

Rehmat Ali of Noyoft Ondra was declared man of the tournament with 8 goals to his credits.

Col. Sher Khan, son of freedom war hero Group Captain (r) Shah Khan, was chief guest at the occasion. He appreciated the youth for spending quality time by indulging in sports. He advised them to work hard and concentrate on building professional excellence in sports.
