Islamabad, September 20: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has accepted CM Mehdi Shah’s invitation to the visit the Gilgit-Baltistan region at some point in the near future. He has also agreed to address a joint session of the GB Council and GB Legislative Assembly.
The two elected leaders met today in Islamabad and discussed different issues related to the Gilgit-Baltistan region. The PM assured Mehdi Shah of all out support to the provincial government. He said that no tone will be left unturned for development of the region.
It was also agreed during the meeting that the Chief Minister of KP and GB will meet to devise a long term security plan for the Karakoram Highway and other routes shared by the two provinces.
During the meeting Mehdi Shah also raised the question of handing over hiring authorities to the provincial government under Article 18th amendment, to which Raja Pervez said that the federal government will help reduce unemployment in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
