Ishq-e-Rasool Day to be observed across Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit, September 20: People across Gilgit-Baltistan will observe the federally announced “Yom-e-Ishq-e-Rasool” (The Day for Love for the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) tomorrow with religious zeal and fervor.

Friday has been declared as a national holiday and the government has urged the people to organize events to highlight personality of the Holy Prophet and condemn the blasphemous video which has enraged Muslim communities across the globe.

The government has urged the protesters to stay calm and condemn the video and other blasphemous material in a peaceful and non-violent manner.

Different organizations have planned rallies and protest demonstrations to commemorate the day in all districts of the region.

Police and other law enforcing organizations have been put on high alert to stop any untoward incident, a district official told this scribe. He said that in view of the volatile law and order situation of Gilgit-Baltistan region, the forces have been put on high alert.

  1. In my opinion it is much more important to condemn all the violence that arised in reaction to the video, than condemning the video itself!
    All the slogans asking for respect and tolerance while at the same time destroying, forcing and killing others just shows the double-standard and hypocrisy here. How can you ask for religious tolerance and respect and at the same time have the worst religious intolerance in Pakistan towards all other groups – be it Shia, Sunni, Ismaili, Ahmadi, Noorbakhshi, Christians, Jews?
