1461 teachers of National Education Foundation schools to be regularized: Minister

Gilgit, November 10: The Federal Government had decided to regularize the posts of 1461 teachers hired on contract basis to teach at schools run under the National Education Foundation. Their basic and gross salaries will also be increased.

According to details shared by Dr. Ali Madad Sher, the federal government has decided in principle to regularize the teachers’ positions from first December, 2012. Their basic salaries will also be increased from PKR 3,000 to PKR 8,000, the minimum wage promulgated under the 2012-13 budget by the federal government.

The decision has been hailed by public quarters, NEF teachers and their families. The teachers had been organizing protest demonstrations and strikes for several years to demand regularization of their jobs.
