Alternate Dispute Resolution: Village based youth groups being formed in Chitral

CHITRAL:  Rural Community Development Program (RCDP)  in collaboration with  Citizen Action for Peace and Development (CADP)  a project of  South Asia Partnership (SAP) for Pakistan established different village level peace youth group for solving petty conflicts at different union councils. They completed different training workshops for male and female youth of Chitral. The project was launched in Nov, 2012  its first quarter was successfully completed. Under the auspices of SAP 5 village committees comprising on 25 members at each group, 5 village level peace youth groups comprising over 200 youth  as well as 3 village level women groups of 75 women were established.  These women group will solve women problems on volunteer basis. 2 days training session and follow-up activities were arranged twice for enhancing their skill and capacity building for resolving these issues.  Similarly 2 trainings on mobilization and emerging need were also conducted for village level committees.

They will work as instrument for resources mobilization and accumulative development practices cooperating with line agencies. Engineer Temour Shah Coordinator of RCDP while talking to local journalists  said that all of these members will play a vital role in solving these issues on volunteer basis. He said that youth will coordinate with village level committees for controlling and resolving pity conflicts and  mini issues causing for great tussles. He said that we established these village groups at Chamrkun, Jughor goaldor, Hoon Faizabad, Ushasht and Mahtoomabad.  He said that we are trying our best to energize and strengthen these youth for solving these issues and to maintain peaceful environment of Chitral.
