Hunza: Landslide kills two people, including Chinese national, near Attabad spillway

Gulmit, July 16: Two people, including a Chinese national, were killed by a rockfall triggered by a blast carried out during construction of a tunnel near Attabad, at the spillway of dammed Hunza River.
A local person hailing from Ganish village of Hunza who was critically injured in the incident later passed away at a hospital in Aliabad, Hunza.
The body of the Chinese workers was recovered from the debris and it is being dispatched to China today. The Chinese national was reported an employee of CRBC.
The blasts are carried out by engineers routinely in the area where tunnels are being constructed as part of the efforts aimed at realignment of the Karakoram Highway, which has been caused to submerge by damming of the Hunza River
