GB court issues arrest warrant of former Accountant General
PT Report
Gilgit, November 24: The Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court on Saturday issued an arrest warrant for the former Account General of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mutahir Shah for failing to appear in a contempt of court case. The bench of Justice Raja Jalaluddin and Justice Muzaffar Ali has directed the police to arrest and present the official on 25 November. The court pardoned Jangi Banadur, Deputy Accountant General for submitting an unconditional apology.
A retired judge Altaf Hussain had filed a contempt of court petition against Accountant General and Deputy Accountant General for writing a letter to a Bank and discontinue the financial privileges of some retired judges in GB. Based on this petition, the apex court had served the contempt of court notices to both officials.
In another development, the provincial Government had replaced Syed Mutahir Shah and deputed Gul Baig as the new Accountant General of GB, a few days before.
It is here to mention that the official of AGPR had discontinued the financial privileges of some retired judges based on an order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan which entitles regular pension only to judges having a service period of five years or more. The GB appellate court has ruled the SCP decision does not apply to GB and the retired judges were entitled to benefits.
