Supreme Court takes notice of Taliban threat to Ismailis and the Kalash tribe
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday took notice of a video clip in which the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called upon the Kalash and Ismaili communities to convert to Islam or face the consequences, Express News reported.
The apex court said the TTP’s statement was against Islam and the law of the country. It urged the government to take measures to protect the minority groups against any onslaught by the TTP.
The Supreme Court took notice of the threat after media reported the issue.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had made an impassioned plea for protection of the Kalash and Ismaili communities.
Also in the Senate, Pakistan Peoples Party lawmakers Farhatullah Babar and Hari Ram had raised the issue of threats by militants to the communities in Chitral valley.
