Chitral: 16 wells dug with European Union assistance to provide potable drinking water to villagers

Chitral, July 2: Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) has completed digging of almost 16 wells in different village of Chitral district to provide potable drinking water to the people. According to officials, the wells have been dug in Panjkoti, Hone, Shyaqotak, Moldeh, DHQ Hospital, Balach, Faizabad, Singor Chitral Airport along with other areas.
One dug well was also completed at Orghuch village whose residents were badly suffering from shortage of drinking water.
Tariq Ahmad district program manager of SRSP while talking to Chitral Union of Journalists said that around 5 million rupees have been spent on these wells, under the Program for Economic Advancement & Community Empowerment (PEACE) funded by European Union.
Chief Executive officer of SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk took keen interest in construction of these dug well because during flood and natural calamity people of town area facing great difficulties due to lack of drinking water. As women folk were compelled to bring water in pitches on their head from far flung areas.
A local beneficiary said that there was great shortage of drinking water and now women folk of the area can easily take water. A large number of people were seen standing in line in front of these dug well to get drinking water in buckets and water cooler.
Social and political circle of Chitral have thanked Shahzada Masoodul Mulk CEO of SRSP for digging the wells that provide clean and cold drinking water to inhabitants of the area. Cool and clean water of dug wells are being used by human and cattle of the area.
