[Sports] Gojali cricket teams competing in Karachi tournament

Karachi: In continuation of the past tradition, youth from Gojal Valley came together yet again to play cricket, have fun and start the new year in a jolly manner.

The opportunity was provided by organizers of the late Amjad Ali and Muhammad Niaz Memorial Cricket Tournament 2011, jointly organized by the Shimshal Students Association and Gojal Ismailia Students Association Karachi.

Nineteen teams from across Gojal are participating in this year’s first ever cricket tournament. Mr. Nadir Karim the distinction holder of Sitara-i- Jurat from Hussaini was the chief guest in the opening ceremony.

The matches are being played in the lush green ground of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School. Jointly organized by the Shimshal Students Association and Gojal Students Association Karachi, the tournament has been dedicated to Late Amjad Ali and Muhammad Niaz of Shimshal who passed away in Karachi in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Late Amjad Ali and Niaz belonged to the majestic Shimshal valley. The former was a banker by profession, while the later was a celebrated local cricketer.

The tournament will last for one month and the final match will be played on ……It is expected that this tournament will bring people of Gojal closer and create spirit of brotherhood and unity among masses.
