German ambassador inaugurates water and sanitation project in Aliabad, Hunza

Hunza, August 12: The German ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Cyril Nunn, visited the picturesque Hunza Valley today and inaugurated a major Water and Sanitation project in Aliabad, the commercial hub of Hunza-Nagar district. He was accompanied by President of the Ismaili National Council for Pakistan, Iqbal Walji. Other notables present at the occasion were GBLA Speaker Wazir Baig, Asad Lakhani, VC of AKPBS, Sharif Khan, President Ismaili Regional Council for Hunza, Brig (r) Hissamullah Baig, Amjad Ayub, Chairman KADO.
Engineer Amanullah, head of the CMS, thanked the German govt for providing resources for the project.
The German envoy thanked the locals for the rousing welcome and expressed hope that the project will benefit the local communities by making access to clean drinking water easier.
Earlier, President Walji said that the AKDN’s journey from the Diamond Jubilee Schools has been full of achievements and landmark successes for all communities of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that the AKDN will continue working with the govt of Gilgit-Baltistan for welfare and development of all communities of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Speaking at the occasion, Wazir Baig said that the locals are thankful to the German government for their support. He also said that the Greater Water Scheme project for Central Hunza will be completed soon and a mega event will be held during its inauguration.
