Gilgit, August 23: The Silk Route Festival 2014 has been cancelled in view of the volatile law and order situation in the country, the Chief Minister has told media persons. He has however, said that a festival will be held in Rama (Astore) next month.
The CM has reportedly said that festival cannot be started in view of the political uncertainty and the resultant confusion created in the country.
It is pertinent to note that the festival was held last year and attended by around two dozen ambassadors and embassy staff from different countries of the world. This year, 39 embassies had reportedly agreed to attend the festival. The cancellation of the event is being seen as a huge failure of the government and the administration.
