Rains: At least two people killed, many injured, in Gilgit-Baltistan

Skardu/Gilgit, September 4: A landslide hit a passenger vehicle near the Kiris Village of Skardu district, killing at least two people, and injuring many more, as rainfall continued throughout the region.

According to details, a Khaplu bound passenger vehicle (#SKD 185)was hit by a landslide near the Kiris bridge, killing two people at the spot and injuring many more. The injured were shifted to hospital and released after provision of first aid.

There are also reports of roofs and boundary walls of houses collapsing in different parts of the valleys.

Meanwhile, rainfall continued in almost all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, like rest of the country. In some place, the rain has been falling non-stop for more than 24 hours, increasing the risk of landslides, flashfloods and collapse of vulnerable structures.
