Authorities warn of terror plot in Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit, October 2: Security authorities in a letter sent to the GB Home Dept have warned that a Kohistan based banned militant group might try to attack government officials or passengers on the Karakuram Highway or inside Gilgit-Baltistan.
The GB administration has also been informed that the militants might use uniforms of security officials to launch their attacks. In the past also, terrorists have used uniforms of GB Scout and Pakistan Army while attacking passenger vehicles and tourists.
Last week, the security situation was discussed at a cabinet meeting and IG and the Chief Secretary had been tasked to coordinate with their counterparts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to take appropriate measures and ensure security along the KKH.
Since then, security arrangements have been reviewed and snap-checking of vehicles is being carried out.
