Army extending full support to all initiatives for ensuring Gilgit-Batlistan’s rights: COAS
Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa has said that the armed forces of Pakistan are ready to respond effectively to the perpetual threat from the East.
According to an ISPR release, the army chief has also said that the army is extending full support to all initiatives aimed at ensuring the rights of Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the federation.
He was addressing the armed forces in Siachen, where he also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs.
“We owe our independence to sacrifices of Shuhadas. Nothing is nobler than laying one’s life in defence of the motherland”, he said, after laying floral wreath at the monument of martyrs in Gultari Sector, Siachi.
The army chief, who has vast experience of working in Gilgit-Baltistan, met with notables and government officials in Gilgit and Skardu.
Earlier, he was received in Skardu by Lt. General Nadeem Raza, Commander Rawalpindi Corps.
