Ginani Festival celebrated in 700 years old Baltit Fort, Hunza
Traditional “Ginani” Festival was celebrated at the Baltit Fort in Hunza. Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, titular Mir of Hunza, presided over the ceremony, wearing the royal costumers of his father, Mir Muhammad Jamal Khan, the last Mir of Hunza.
GB Tourism Minister Fida Khan Fida, MLA Rani Atiqa Ghazanfar, and officials of the district administration also attended the festival.
Local elders and youth, as well as a large number of tourists, were present during the celebration of the seasonal, agricultural, festival.
It is pertinent to note that the state of Hunza ceased to exist as a separate entity in 1974. However, the Mir of Hunza still customarily functions as a head figure.
