Bidding for the award of trophy hunting licenses held in Gilgit

Bidding for the award of trophy hunting licenses was held today under the Wildlife and Parks department of Government of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Hunting permits for 4 Astore Markhors were auctioned at 68,000 to 100,000 USD, 14 licenses of Blue Sheep were auctioned at 8,000 to 10,000 USD and 48 ibex licenses were auctioned at 3,600 USD. The money received through trophy hunting is distributed between the communities and government at 80:20 ratios. The local communities spend the money on education, health and other development areas.
The hunting season in the region begins in November and ends in April.
