Fifth grader “ends his life” after failing in mid-term exam
Gilgit/Chilas: A 5th grade student belonging to Goharabad village of District Diamer has reportedly ended his life after failing in an examination.
According to local sources, the student was stressed after failing in a mid-term exams.
Sources requesting anonymity have informed Pamir Times that the child was living in Konodas area of Gilgit. He was reportedly a student of Read Foundation School in Konodas.
Some people on social media have said that the death was accidental. They said that the child reportedly shot himself accidentally.
Every year dozens of people, mostly youth, kill themselves in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan for a multitude of reasons. Most of the cases of suicide go unreported because of the stigma attached.
Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly had vowed to combat the issue through institutional efforts. However, save for a few sessions, not much has taken place.
