Kohistan video scandal: Three sentenced to life, five acquitted


BESHAM: A session court in Besham, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sentenced three people to life imprisonment in the infamous Kohistan video scandal case. The judge has acquitted five others of the charges against them.

Judge Shafiullah Jan of Kolai-Palas Kohistan announced the verdict in Bisham amid strict security arrangements.

Mohammad Umar, Saeer and Sabir were relatives of the five slain girls who were killed after a video clip showing the women singing and clapping and a boy dancing had gone viral in May 2012.

Afzal Kohistani brought the issue of the honor killings to the media’s attention in 2012.

This video claimed seven lives, including the three women and four men, including Afzal Kohistani and his three brothers.
