Dead body of the nurse, Shabana Akhtar, was found hanging from ceiling of her hostel room at the Midwifery Hostel, District Headquarter Hospital Gilgit.

Principal and other female staffers of the hostel have complained that unknown people are banging gates of the hostel at night time in a threatening manner.

MLA Sadia Danish has demanded deployment of female and male police officials at the hostel for safety of the staff members.

The case of Shabana’s death, earlier reported by a section of the press as “suicide”, took a new twist after evidences collected from her cell phone showed that three of her male colleagues had been sexually harassing and threatening her.

An unsent message in Shabana’s cell phone, meant for her father, is being seen as a crucial evidence against Jarrar Hussain, one of her three colleagues arrested on the basis of suspicion. IN that unsent message Shabana had wanted to tell her father that Jarrar, a resident of Amphery Gilgit, should be held responsible if something bad happened to her.
