Lahore: Karakorum Festival Concluded

Lahore, March 30: A three day festival commemorating the 60th anniversary of the first accent of 8611metere high K2, Mount Godwin Austin, was concluded yesterday in Lahore. The festival had commenced on March 28 with the collaboration of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) and the Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department. The main objective of the festival was the promotion of culture and reviewing of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Various tours and track companies had their information camps displayed, which were visited by a large number of visitors. Singers and artists beautified the cultural diversity of the region by their live performances. The handicraft and food stalls displayed by Karakorum Area Development Organization (KADO) made the visitors to experience the taste and tang of the region.
Addressing to the closing ceremony, chief guest Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, Chief Secretary Sindh said that such events promote internal tourism and bring greater understanding among our diverse and rich regional cultures. The event was finally concluded by the melodious songs and fanatical performance by the local artists.
