Remebering first visit of H.H The Aga Khan to Gilgit – Baltistan
In 1960 present Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, Shah Karim Al Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, paid his first visit to Hunza valley. His visit was part of a comprehensive tour that included meetings with the Ismaili Jamat in Gilgit and Ghizar as well. Today the Ismailis of Hunza are celebrating this day with religious zeal and fervor.
We wish our Ismaili readers of Hunza and Gilgit – Baltistan a very Happy Salgirah Mubarak of the first visit of His Highness the Aga Khan.

——DO THE JAMAT OF HUNZA AND GILGIT-BALTISTAN REALISE THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS DAY——-IS A QUESTION FOR THE ISMAILI YOUTH OF GILGIT-BALTISTAN. HOW THE DEVELOPMENT IN ALL WAY LIFE CHANGED FROM THE DAY.

My warmest and heartiest wishes and congratulations, on the 50th anniversary of the first ever visit,by any Ismaili imam,in their known history, Shah Karim al-Husayni (`ala Zikrihi salam) , the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims to the region of Gilgit-Baltistan(Gilgit, Ghizar and Hunza), from 20th-26th October 1960. Since the the pace of development for his community and, also, for the whole region is visible and feelable.

Salgira Mubarak to the Ismaili community of Gilgit Baltistan. This visit of Moulana Hazir Imam to the north part of Pakistan has a significant impact on the quality of life of the people of the region. Moulana Hazir Imam had said on his visit that “I have seen the worst poverty in this part of the world” and there from most of the developmental activities started. Though the education system was in place before but that was also expended along with other developmental programmes.
So the people of Gilgit-Baltistan must realize the importance of this day and humbly thank MHI for his contributions to the people of the area.
