National Skiing Championship started at Naltar

Gilgit, February 21: The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Skiing Championship commenced today at the exotic Naltar resort, close to the capital city of Gilgit – Baltistan region. Chief Minister, Syed Mehdi Shah, was chief guest at of the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion Shah praised Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for promotion of healthy activities in the region. He said that the provincial government will extend all out support to PAF for construction of a skiing point and centre at par with international standards. He informed that GB government has given 228 Kanals of land to PAF for construction of the skiing facility.

12 teams from across Pakistan and Gilgit – Baltistan are taking part in the annual skiing competition. Some of the teams are GB Police, GB Scouts, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Islamabadi Ski Association, HEC, Sindh, Balochistan, GB Ski Association and Pakistan Alpine Club.   The tournament will  conclude on February 24th.
