Over one hundred foreign tourists stuck in Gilgit – Baltistan

Islamabad, April 7: A large number of foreign tourists are reportedly stuck in different parts of the Gilgit – Baltistan region. The tourists in Gilgit have been shifted to a relatively secure hotel, an official of the hotel told Pamir Times. He said that while there is no threat for tourists many of them are worried because of the curfew and some of them may even be facing problems due to nearing of visa expiry dates. He also said that may of the tourists are also stuck in Hunza and different parts of Baltistan.

According to one source the number of tourists, mostly Japanese and Korean who visit the region during this season to enjoy the cherry blossom, may be around 120.

Officials of the Pakistan Association of Tour Operators (PATO) have appealed to the government to give special consideration to the tourists and help them leave the region safely.
