“Security Reasons”: Habib Bank not willing to give fresh currency notes to customers in Chitral

Chitral, July 24: The customers of Habib Bank in Chitral will not be able to get fresh currency notes during this Eid. Stating security reasons, the HBL has said that fresh notes cannot be transported to Chitral from the regional headquarter office. HBL has seven branches in Chitral and thousands of customers, who are not happy with the decision.

HBL Chitral officials confirmed the news adding that they have sent letters to Head quarters and Regional HQ but the RHQ has asked Chitral branch that they were unable to provide huge cash to be transported to Chitral because it becomes security issue. However RHQ has asked HBL Chitral to take the currency notes by their own arrangement and HBL Chitral was not ready for it.

Customers have said that if the bank can transport fresh currency notes to Upper Dir, why can’t the same be done for Chitral, which is not very far, on the other side of the Lawari tunnel.

They have demanded of the bank officials to supply fresh currency to Chitral and not deprive the people of trading fresh notes on the occasion of Eid.
