PT Report

Gilgit, April 7: Director Health for Gilgit – Baltistan region, Dr Nazeem Ahmed, briefed GBLA speaker at his office about health situation in Gojal valley. The speaker ordered immediate establishment of operation theater in the hospital and said that negligence will not be tolerated in this regard. “The health issue has been taken at the highest level and we need to increase the pace of work to provide health services to all parts of Gilgit – Baltistan, especiallythe disaster hit Gojal valley”, the elected representative of Hunza valley said.

“I will not forgive those who are responsible for delaying provision of health facilities to the citizens of Gilgit – Baltistan”, he made it clear!

It is pertinent to note that the health issues of Gojal valley had deteriorated due to red tape-ism.

An employee of the THQ Gulmit informed Pamir Times on phone that the laboratory has been made functional at the hospital. “The dental unit and X – ray machine are also functional now. Things are improving”, the employee who did not want to be named said. “Earlier the doctors were being deputed on rotational basis but now a lady and a male medical officers have been deputed in the hospital on permanent basis”, he further said. He also said that an electricity generator is being urgently provided to the hospital on demand.

There is also information that a gynecologist, Dr Shireen, would be visiting Gojal valley within a few day.

A mobile team of doctors and nurses working for the Aga Khan Health Services is also conducting medical camps in the region. AKHSP is also distributing medicines free of cost in the Gojal valley. According to an AKHSP official important medicines have been stocked in the region to cater to general needs for a period of six months.

According to observers’ opinion the protests staged by the people of Gojal seem to have started yielding results.

  1. Mr. Speaker first of all this is you negligence and poor performance that even after 90 days of disaster you have not a single doctor in the largest thesil of Gilgit Baltistan and a calamity hit area. You are responsible for this ignorance…and please stop giving political statement and work seriously, this is not a time of political scoring.

  2. The present negligence is acceptable and tolerable but further negligence is unacceptable to Mr. Speaker!

  3. The officials working in government departments are so baised towards Gojal which is noted when one enters into a government department for any reason. I have personal experience of this attitude in the region when the officials did not even bothered to listen to me being a Gojali.

The officials first consider their ethnic and religious background to work because they are there as a result of sifarish. With this kind of attitude do we expect they will listen to us or our representatives.

The educated youth of Gojal can very rarely be seen in the government offices theref.

What is the reason behind this, I put the following questions for our youth to answer:
    1. Are we not competent enough to qualify for a government service?
    2. Are we not finding anybody on the top to help us get into these services
    3. Do we not want to be part of corruption?
    4. Are we in the process of migration towards cities down
    country?
    5. Or what else.

    1. 1. Are we not competent enough to qualify for a government service?
Ans: As far I have heared of the private sector youth. Their thought is, the more nepotisim in Govt sector- With out that an Officer faces some difficulties and We Gojalis are some extra honest, and polite toward law. We can’t do corruption.
      2. Are we not finding anybody on the top to help us get into these services
We people are extra polite and straight forward (not diplomatic) and that is a crime in Pakistan.
      3. Do we not want to be part of corruption?
      Neither…..
      4. Are we in the process of migration towards cities down
      country?
It may be some how a major factor.
      5. Or what else.
Most of our youth do not go through premier public institutions, And that I think make a big deviation from the public sector services.

  4. Well done speaker for your bold stance keep it up, we are with you for your such effort.

  5. Thanks and Good step 0f Speaker GBLA and we hop the anther require things will be soon deploying in the THQ Hospital Gulmit, keep it up.
