Gilgit, October 15: The White Cane Safety Day (یوم سفید چھڑی ) was observed in Gilgit city yesterday, participated by visually impaired students, government officials, governor Gilgit – Baltistan and civil society representatives.
An awareness walk was held from Heli-Chowk Jutial to Lalak Jan Stadium, under the leadership of GB interim Governor, Wazir Baig.
The visually impaired children presented different entertainment items to raise awareness about their rights.
The Governor in his address promised to extend all possible to the special education department to help reduce difficulties faced by the visually impaired people. He also announced to reopen a vocational school for the differently-abled people.
Earlier he was briefed by deputy director special education, Jahan Shah Niazi, about the issues faced by Special Education Complex.
