GB Council vacancies for all, except the people of GB

Gilgit, July 24 (TR): The high claims of GB Council members proved to be far fetched and void. The power of KANA Division and the Federal Government over GB Council was once again proved by the Sunday announcement of 39 vacancies which have been divided between Punjab, KP and Sindh. Only 2 of the 39 seats have been allocated for the residents of Gilgit – Baltistan.

Ironically, the recent vacancies are not different from the ones announced on March 28. It is pertinent to note that the GB Council Members had come into action after media highlighted the anomaly and the members had promised that majority of the posts will be reserved for the residents of GB.

GB Council Member, Maulana Attaullah Shahab, condemned the announcement and termed it a conspiracy against the people of Gilgit – Baltistan. He said that no consultation had been made with members of the Council.

Maulana Shahab said that he will make personal efforts to ensure that the vacancies are reserved for the people of GB.
