PT Report

Gilgit, Octoebr 1: A delegation of scholars from Moscow University has reached Gilgit en-route to Gojal Valley (Hunza) and Ishkoman (Ghizar). The delegation was received by government officials, representatives of different organizations and the Gilgit based youth of Gojal Valley at the Rumi Arts & Crafts Centre.

Dr. Boghsho Lashkar Bekov, first PhD of Wakhi language from Moscow University, is part of the delegation.

The delegation will visit Wakhi speaking people in Gojal Valley (Hunza) and Ishkoman (Ghizar) to learn more about their lifestyle and cultures.

It is pertinent to note that the Pamirian Wakhis had migrated to Chitral, Hunza and Ghizar (now administered by Pakistan) from different parts of the Pamir Mountain ranges for various reasons. They have been settled in these areas for centuries now.
