Pak-Tajik Road through Ishkoman (Ghizar), FM assures GB Governor

PT Report

Islamabad, December 21: Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, has said that the Pak-Tajik road will be constructed through Ishkoman Valley, located   in Ghizar District of Gilgit – Baltistan region. She made the assurance today while meeting Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah, the governor of Gilgit – Baltsitan here in Islamabad.

The Governor told Ms Khar that the best rout for the construction of Pak-Tajik road was through Ishkoman as it could be constructed in short perio, at a comparatively reduced cost.

Ms. Khar, accepting the proposal , said that all necessary actions will be taken to ensure construction of the road through Ishkoman, the home valley of Syed Karam Ali Shah.

It is pertinent to note that the GB governor has faced a lot of criticism across the region, particularly in his native Ishkoman valley, for failing to fight the case for construction of this strategic trade road through Gilgit – Baltistan.

The other route, thought to be viable by the KP government, passes through the Yarkhoon Valley of Chitral District.
