Health drive for mothers and children being launched in Chitral

CHITRAL: A high level meeting was held at DCO office under the chair of District Coordination Officer Chitral Rahmatullah Wazir which was attended by heads of all line department and leaders of political parties as well as civil society including health department.

Dr. Ibrahim Khan district coordinator of National Program briefed DCO as well as stakeholders of the meeting regarding a week long door to door campaign of mother and Child health care. It was decided during the meeting that door to door campaign will be kicked from May 2 to 8 regarding raising awareness among the masses about mother and child health and protect them from several diseases. He said that the campaign have four objectives to vaccinate all children until the age of 5 years to save them from 7 diseases. To de-worm children from 2 to 5 years of age and worm killer medicine will be provided them free of cost. All pregnant women would be given TT vaccines as well as all Lady Health Workers Lady Health Supervisors and all health staff working at different health units will create health education and awareness among the masses about mother and child health to minimize mortality ratio. They will also impart health education regarding different diseases like Whooping cough, TB, Measles, Diphtheria, Polio, Tetanus, and Hepatitis B. Hence during the present campaign Hepatitis B is not included because it injections is providing only at its specific centers. But women and children would be vaccinated to save them from these 6 diseases. For this purpose 483 lady health workers, 20 Lady health supervisors, and health staff at all health unit will participate in this campaign to eradicate these diseases from Chitral. AS well as missing children would be vaccinated especially.

DCO Rahmatullah Wazir directed all line department to must cooperate and contribute in this national task campaign. He advised Dr. Gulzar Ahmad children specialist to prepare a work plan and to follow the same for success this campaign at every health unit and every corner of Chitral.
