Giglit, May 25: The central mosques of Ahl-e-Sunnat and Ahl-e-Tashi were opened today by religious leaders in presence of the members of the Gilgit – Baltsitan Legislative Assembly, hours before the Jumma prayers.
Both mosques had been forcefully closed by the government some days after imposition of curfew in the city on 4th April.
Administration of both central mosques had been asked to sign a code of conduct or change their central prayer leaders.
The decision to open both places of worship has been hailed across the region.
The mosque of Ahl-e-Tashi was opened by Maulana Maqsood and Nisar Wali, while that of the Ahl-e-Sunnat was opened by Syed Ahmad Ali Shah.
