Disaster strategy will be developed for vulnerable regions: Mehdi Shah
Gilgit, Nov 16: The Gilgit-Baltistan government will develop a disaster preparedness and response strategy for the vulnerable parts of the region. The work of FOCUS Pakistan for helping vulnerable communities is highly commendable.
These views were shared by the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, while talking to a delegation of Focus Humanitarian Assistance that met him under the leadership of Chairperson Khadija Jamal.
The Chief Minister appreciated FOCUS Pakistan for undertaking different initiatives in the region and offered the government’s full support for making the region safer from natural disasters, a Press Release shared by the CM secretariat said.
It is pertinent to note that FOCUS is a part of the Aga Khan Development Nework specializing in disaster management and humanitarian support. It has been working in the region for more than a decade.
The present Chairperson of FOCUS has changed the FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance and made it responsive tot he needs of local communities of GB and Chitral and other part of Pakistan.
