District administration bans wall-chalking in Gilgit

Gilgit, October 31: The district authorities in Gilgit have imposed a ban on wall-chalking. The violators have been threatened with dire consequences.
According to information, the ban has been imposed as part of the peace strategy, ahead of the month of Muharram. People have also been asked to refrain from hate speech, sloganeering and gathering in large numbers, an act enforced under the section 144 of Pakistan Penal Code.
Using mobile phones and other platforms of social media for spreading hate and rumors will be monitored and the culprits will be brought to the book, said a source at the DC’s office.
The religious scholars and clerics have been advised to not use loud speakers and refrain from hate speech.
