Besham, April 2: The Karakuram Highway (KKH) has been blocked for three days due to a landslide near Pattan, in the Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The authorities have failed to open the road which serves as a lifeline for the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
Dozens of buses and smaller vehicles are stuck in Besham and other adjacent mountain towns, waiting for the KKH to open. Several dozens of vehicles have also returned from the other side of the blockade to Gilgit.
The passengers have appealed to the federal and KP government to take quick action and ensure opening of the road.
