Chitral: Golain Water Supply Scheme becomes functional, 29000 people to benefit

Chitral, July 7: Golain Water Supply scheme was inaugurated at Danin today by MPA Saleem Khan.

MPA Saleem Khan emphasized on the concerned department to work hard and to make this project sustainable and successful in the long run. He said that none should be deprived from the benefits of the project.
Zahir Shah spokesman of PHE said that 9 water tanks were constructed having the capacity of 5000 to 30000 gallons, adding that 1000000 gallons water will be carried through this pipeline per day.
Addressing on the occasion the speakers hailed efforts of Saleem Khan who motivated previous government who allocate some 32 crore 46 lacs rupees for this purpose.
Some local people also raised the issue that at present 65 households are totally deprived from water connection as well as some pipe lying openly on the ground. They also raised the issue that this pipeline will be run on test basis for 3 months. During this 3 months contractor will be responsible for any damages but after expiring of test period this will be handed over to Water and sanitation unit through PHE department and there would be no responsibility of contractor for any damages or loss.

XEN Public Health said that water of Golain scheme will be given to eastern part of Chitral while Angarghon water will be given to Singor areas. He said that the project have ben designed for 20 years to supply drinking water to Town area.
