Pro Inqilab March Dharnas held in Gilgit and Skardu, roads blocked

Gilgit/Skardu: Workers of the MWM, Sunni Ittehad Council and PMLQ blocked roads and started sit-ins in Skardu and Gilgit, two major cities of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

In Gilgit, the Dharna started in the evening, as workers from Qadri’s ally parties reached Sakwar Chowk, located at the outskirts of Gilgit city and connecting with the KKH, which then moves northwards to Danyore. A large number of people are currently present at the Dharna site.

A Dharna was also held in Skardu this evening, as a number of activists of MWM and other parties converged at the Kachura chowk. The protesters blocked the Skardu-Rawalpindi road for several hours.

Speakers in both Dharnas lambasted the federal government for not filing cases against the culprits of the Model Town massacre in which more than a dozen people were killed. They also said that Nawaz had come to power through rigging and that he should step down.

Both Dharnas demanded fulfilment of the charter of demands of Dr. Tahirul Qadri.
