[Video] Chaudhary Barjees Tahir takes oath as Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan
Islamabad: Chaudhary Barjees Tahir, the Federal Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs, has taken oath as the ex-offico governor of Gilgit-Baltistan region.
The oath-taking ceremony was to be held at the GB House here in Islamabad, but the venue was changed at the last minute and the venue was shifted to the KANA Ministry, in a small and crowded room. The oath-taking ceremony was attended among others by PMLN leaders, including Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan.
The oath was administered by Chief Judge of Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Jalaluddin.
Meanwhile, a group of PPP supporters and members staged a protest demonstration against the appointment of Barjees Tahir in Gilgit.
It is pertinent to note that PTI, PPP, MQM, MWM and many other political groups are calling the appointment as part of an effort aimed at rigging the elections in favor of PMLN.
