The previous Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly was dominated by Pakistan Peoples Party’s members, including those who were directly elected and those who were nominated on seats reserved for women and technocrats. Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam was the second largest party in the assembly, followed by PMLQ. MQM, Tehreek-e-Islamic and the nationalist party BNF had one seats each.
