Gojal mourns the death of Ustod Sumbul Khan

Gulmit, December 01: Architect of hundreds of houses, places of worship, bridges, schools and other buildings, Ustod Sumbul Khan, 88, passed away today here in Gulmit.
An expert of traditional architecture and construction styles, late Sumbul Khan, famously known as “Ustod (Expert/Master)”, as a sign of respect for his art and expertise, had trained tens of pupils to preserve and promote elements of the region’s traditional architecture.
According to initial reports reaching Pamir Times Ustod Sumbul had gone to his workplace this morning, as well. His conditioned deteriorated at the work place suddenly and he later passed away, leaving thousands in mourning across the valley.
Editor’s note: Team Pamir Times offers condolences to the bereaved family and we all pray for the departed soul. The younger generation of Gojal would be able to see elements of our architectural heritage alive because of the dedication and expertise of people like Ustod Sumbul Khan.
Sudden demise of Ustad (Pop) Sambol has saddened all of us. His great contribution and work in the community will be remembered in years ahead.

Dear readers of PT,
It is a general truth that everyone has to depart according to the time set. This really prevails and persists from the very time human beings came into existence.
What really matters in everyone’s absence is the role played which at times is so effective that it is remembered for generations and is followed towards a good cause.
Ustod Sambol, can not be described in a few words rather is a person for whom the limited vocabulary of mine would not meet the demands of sketching his personality and characterizing him as a genius in true sense. His personality was fully equipped with all the utensils that always distinguished him and brought to him a great honor and fame. Apart from being a skillful carpenter he was a great intellectual. His decisions were always intellect based and the expertise he had acquired in his related field is still incomparable.
I am afraid as may not produce people of Ustod Sambul’s kind in the coming years and decades. He was a multiskilled and multi-dimensional individual who has rendered his volunteer services not only in Gulmit rather in every part of Gojal and am dam sure that his presence will always be missed and will remain a big loss for times.
I would like to extend my heartfelt condolence to the mourning family and pray that the soul might rest in eternal peace. Amen.
