Gilgit, September 15: Equipment worth millions of rupees, meant for completion of the Misgar Power Project, has reportedly sank in the dammed Hunza River today.
According to details, the equipment was being transferred to the Gojal Valley on boat for being used in the Misgar Power Project. While the vehicle carrying the equipment was being loaded onto a boat, the ship lost balance and the vehicle fell in the river along with all the equipment.
It has been learnt that the contractor, Manzoor, was allegedly transferring the “equipment”, details of which remain unknown, to Misgar after being blacklisted yesterday by the Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan.
It is pertinent to note that the Misgar Power Project has been pending for almost a decade despite of payments of tens of millions of rupees to the contractors.
