NALA passes 3 resolutions
GILGIT, Nov 25: The Northern Areas Legislative Assembly (NALA) unanimously passed three resolutions on the second day of its proceedings on Tuesday.The first resolution tabled by Fidaullah Advocate demanded session allowances for the employees of the NALA Secretariat which was approved by the house with an amendment that the allowances should be given with effect from 2006 when the speaker, deputy speaker, advisers and members were given the privileges at par with the legislative assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The house also passed a resolution tabled by technocrat Ali Murad saying that the region was rich in minerals and all licences issued for mining be repealed because the procedures adopted during the process was not in accordance with the law. It called for implementation of the mining act, adding the licences should be issued under this act.
Later, the speaker referred the matter to the select committee which would come up with its recommendations in the next session. The house also approved a resolution moved by Walayat Ali demanding the government should appoint a serving brigadier as principal of the Cadet College Skardu.
The speaker directed adviser food Sikandar Ali to give detail reply to Dr Muzaffar Rely’s query regarding shortage of wheat flour. Dawn
