Hunza Union of Journalists formed

HUNZA, November 13: Interim cabinet of the Hunza Union of Journalists (HUJ) was sworn in the other day. Senior journalist Alamgeer was selected as first president of the union, while special correspondent for DAWN, Pamir Times’ co – founder and chief editor of Karakuram Knowledge Highway magazine, Zulfiqar Ali Khan, was selected its first secretary.
The union will work to support journalists of Hunza region.
Governor of Gilgit – Baltistan has assured the union that soon a press club will be established in the region to facilitate journalists.
Public circles have lauded this step as a positive and long overdue step towards creation of a better society.
Members of team Pamir Times have extended their heartiest congratulations to Zulfiqar Ali Khan for his dedication towards the cause of journalism in the region and his appointment as first secretary of the Hunza Union of Journalists.
I whole heartedly congratulate Hunza Union of Journalist. This was highly needed in this knowledge based era and economy. Journalists are the hopes,aspiration and rather mirror of any society.
In the modern times where information and communication plays a vital role in the formation of a progressive civil society. With the help of the Government and massive awairness and development compain by the AKDN, Hunza has transformed very high on education, social development. Journalizm is the eyes and ears of a society and formation of Hunza Union of Journalists is a wel come sign.
I congratulate, Zulfiqar, the co-founder of Pamirtimes and turning it into a success story by his team, and the team of PT that the success in a short time of only two years have achieved a vaery high standard in journalism.
