Call to appoint Wazir Baig as CM
HUNZA, Nov 17: The leadership of the Hunza chapter of Pakistan People’s Party has appealed to President and co-chairperson of the party Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Qamar Zaman Kaira to appoint Wazir Baig as Chief Minister of the region.
In a meeting held at Aliabad, they said that Mr Baig deserved to be appointed as chief minister as he was highly educated and a neutral personality acceptable to all in Gilgit-Baltistan.
They also congratulated the winning candidates of the assembly and expressed their hope that they would utilise their energies for the development of the region.
They paid tributes to the people of upper Hunza and the party workers who helped the party win the election.
They also expressed hope that the losing candidates in Hunza would join hands with the newly elected members and work for the development of Hunza.
Meanwhile, president of Hunza chapter of the party Fida Karim commended the historic role played by the people of Hunza, in general, and the people of Gojal, in particular, for the victory of the PPP in the GB polls. He hoped that the PPP leadership would fulfill the longstanding demand of the people and give additional seat for Hunza in the legislative assembly.
WAZIR BAIG YOU DESERVE AS CM
Well, this is something to be decided by the leadership of PPP. However, Wazir Baig is the most capable person amongst the winning candidates. I have seen him working as a Council member and has demonstrated his ability. He can handle the job of CM properly. Over and above this, he is the most non-controversial and neutral person. He is frugal and simple person. I join the PPP of Hunza in appealing to the higher authorities to consider his case carefully.
While I do not contest the credentials of Mr. Wazir Beg as a capable man, I serious want to inquire both Mr. Sabit Rahim and Hammad to throw light on the stance that he is neutral and non-controversial. What does that mean? Are the others controversial and partisan? How? Or it just that you guys want them to be declared controversial??
well i don’t think so that Wazir baig is deserved to be CM.AS he has already stated in his press release while disfavouring additional seat for hunza that he is even unable to handle single seat of hunza than what to do with additional one, such sort of comments shows his incapability and lack of devotion.so if you want to save GILGIT BALTISTAN not to favour him as he has not favoured additional seat for hunza.
thank u for your golden comments dear sherbaz ,unfortunately we miss the chance by elect him.now we have to wait for next 10 years as he is not eligible for lead us
If not appointed as CM he will be deserving as a speaker… jiye Wazir… Jiye PPP… Jiye Bhutto…
FIRST OF ALL, PEOPLE, WAZIR BAIG IS NOT EVEN A PPP JIALA FROM HIS HEART. YOU SHOULDN’T FORGET HIS REMARKS ABOUT PPP WHILE CONTESTING AGAINST NAZIR SABIR. HE CALLED PPP, A PARTY WHERE THIIEVES, MR. 10%s, CHEATERS RULE. I’VE VERY SERIOUS RESERVATIONS AGAINST HIM FOR HIM BEING A PPP LEADER.
TALKING ABOUT HIS PERSONALITY, I’M SURE, THERE’S NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE PPP LEADERSHIP IN GILGIT-BALTISTAN, NO ONE CAN RAIS A FINGUER WHEN IT COMES TO HIS CAPABILITIES. BUT HE’S TOO OLD NOW, WE ALSO SHOULD NOT FORGET, HOW HE DIDN’T RETURN TO HUNZA TO MEET AND SAY THANKS FOR THE CONTRIBUTION, OF HEARTBROKEN JIALAS, WORKERS, PSF’S MEMBERS WHO AND APPEARED LIKE A SEASONAL MULE WHEN ELECTIONS CAME ON OUR HEADS. I’M SORRY, HE’S NOT MY LEADER NOW AT LEAST. HE’S VERY MUCH LIKE MIR GHAZANFAR ALI KHAN, WHO WINS OR LOOSES GOES BACK TO COMFORTS OF ISLAMABAD. MY LEADER IS THE ONE WHO SHARES MY HAPPINESS, MY SORROWS, MY WINS, MY LOOSES, AND DOESN’T TURNS HIS BACK TO MY WHEN HE LOOSES ELECTIONS.
My dear: No one looks like a real poltician who could mingle among his workers, lovers, patriots and this may not feel them down rather make them public leaders. So I agree with you and dont cry over self-centered actions of our great leaders.
Come on guys, what type of demand is this?? we all know the party president has to right to be nominated as CM, and that is Mr. Mehdi Shah. why are we demanding Mr. Baig as CM, because the other is form Baltistan?? I think Mr. Mehdi is also a PPP leader or what so ever jiyala.. If Wazir Baig was the President of party in GB, certainly he would have the slot, but not now..
I wonder people still chant slogans of Jiye PPP. Thats why we hate politics, politicians and followers of politics. Wazir baig might be the most humble person among the elected members but one musty rememer that Iron cuts Iron, means we need a Mr. 10% from North to beg infront of Zardari in an adroit manner………
Reacting very strongly to the statement of Pakistani prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, in which he had said that Gilgit – Baltistan is part of Kashmir, the students of Gilgit – Baltistan staged a demonstration in front of National Press Club, Islamabad.
They demanded apology from the prime minister for making ’such baseless statements, contradicting his own past speeches and statements’. They also chanted slogans agains the government for ”playing with emotions of the people of Gilgit – Baltistan”.
“This statement from Gilani right after the GBLA elections proves hollowness of the promises of the Pakistani ruling elite”, a demonstrator told Pamir Times. “They are just playing double games with us”, remarked another.
The students said that people of Gilgit – Baltistan had fought a war of liberation and won it against a superior force of the Maharaja of Kashmir, also supported by Indian government. “The Kashmiris were invaders in our lands”, said a demonstrator. He further said, “we fought with them and made them flee the region but now the Pakistani political, civilian and military establishment is trying to murder our history of liberation”.
Participants of the agitation were carrying placards and raising slogans against PPP and the prime minister.
