Patient shot dead in Gilgit hospital, alleged Burqa clad culprit flees

Gilgit, July 19: An under treatment patient identified as Sharafat Hussain has reportedly been shot dead at the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ), Gilgit.
According to an Urdu daily the patient was already wounded and sleeping in the intensive care unit when a Burqa clad person entered the room at around 4:40 in the morning yesterday and shot him in sleep. Sharafat died on spot.
Relatives of Sharafat and other public circles have protested against inadequate security at the hospital.
The police have reportedly arrested a man in connection with the murder and also recovered the pistol used to kill Sharafat. An FIR has also been lodged against the culprit at Cantt. police station of Gilgit city.
