Honour killing in Gilgit, man kills wife and her alleged lover

Gilgit, October 28: In a shocking incident a man called Sajad has killed his wife and another man named Shafi, on suspicion of an “illicit relationship”. He later handed over himself to the police, confessing the crime.

According to details Shafi was sitting at a shop in Kashrote when Sajad shot him in the head and escaped. He also killed his wife at their house and reached the police station to confess his crime.

Police have registered a case and started investigation. A couple of months back a similar incident had taken place in Gahkuch where a man had killed his sister and her alleged lover.

The increasing incidents of honour – killing raise an important question about human rights and the government needs to take appropriate measures to convince the people to note take law into their hands on the basis of suspicion.
