"If you love me, don’t use drugs": Nawaz Naji appeals to the youth

Gilgit, November 24: MLA Nawaz Naji, leader of the Balawaristan National Front, has said that youth of Ghizar are being provided easy access to drugs as part of a conspiracy. Despite of the fact that Opium is not harvested in Ghizar, lethal drugs are being supplied to the youth of Ghizar under the noses of law-enforcers, Naji said.

He has urged the workers of BNF to rise against the menace of drug addiction. “We will go to every single house of the district and appeal to the people to shun consumption of Charas and alcohol”, Naji has said.

“If the youth of Ghizar love me, they shall not use drugs”, the nationalist leader drawing most of his support from youth said.

It is pertinent to note that in many parts of GB drugs, like Charas, Heroin, Alcohol and other unhealthy products are being consumed by a growingly large population of the youth. There is a dearth of rehab facilities in GB, which further exacerbates the situation. Moreover, the best drug rehab centers in any country are expected to be staffed by professionals who are trained in helping patients deal with their drug addiction issues, which is another major across Pakistan.

Some of the factor contributing to the trend are laxity of the forces, at best, and tacit approval and support of corrupt elements within the law-enforcing agencies, at worst.

Alcohol is either smuggled from China and other parts of Pakistan, or prepared locally. However, drugs are Charas and Heroin are not prepared locally, but smuggled to the region through KPK.
